South Korea's cosmetics brand Sulwhasoo is expanding into the Japanese market, opening its first official pop-up store at Isetan Shinjuku in Tokyo from Sept. 5 to Oct. 13.
At the pop-up in Japan's flagship department store, Sulwhasoo is showcasing its ginseng-based beauty products, including its Concentrated Ginseng Rejuvenating Cream and First Care Activating Serum.
Visitors can experience the brand's signature programs, such as hand massages, as well as its Jihambo packaging service. The brand will also offer special experience programs and promotions to selected customers.
"It is very meaningful to be able to introduce Sulwhasoo's 60-year history of ginseng research and its philosophy on Korean beauty to Japanese customers through our entry into the Japanese market," a Sulwhasoo official said.
The company plans to expand its presence in Japan beyond department stores through various online and offline stores, including Isetan Beauty online, Qoo10, Amazon Japan, and @cosme Shopping.
Sulwhasoo has been building brand awareness in Japan ahead of its full-scale market entry. In May, it held a pop-up store on @cosme, Japan's leading beauty platform. In August, it hosted a brand launch event for Japanese beauty media, retailers and influencers, featuring collaborative content and sampling programs with Japan's Biteki beauty magazine.
The company operates over 600 stores across 15 countries.
